Reporting Securities Violations

The SEC has established an Office of the Whistleblower to assist individuals in coming forward to report securities laws violations. The office provides monetary compensation to individuals who come forward with valuable information that leads to a sanction of at least $1,000,000. In return, whistleblowers receive between 10 percent and 30 percent of the money the SEC collects. As with any whistleblower claim, the process of reporting an employer can be harrowing. At the Law Offices of Louise A. Herman, we do everything we can to protect the rights and confidentiality of individuals who come forward to report the unethical or unlawful practices of their employers.

The SEC Office of the Whistleblower was established in 2010 as a part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. SEC whistleblowers are also protected from retaliation for reporting.
